Self Publishing advice & tips for new writers!

         My over the moon experience!

Here I am with my first self- published book entitled 'Slices of Life' on display for people to buy on Kindle and to purchase from my website ciftonbooks.co.uk, now isn't that great! Self- publishing your first book and holding the very first copy is a feeling very hard to describe, the only way simlpe enough to express it, is that, it is like "jumping over the moon several times" and almost leaping in the air for joy, knowing after all that hard work you have done it and that you kept at it! Now to make it through to the next stage of actually selling the book. But where and how do you go about it?

Tips and advice from my experience.

Self-publishing seems the best and easiest way if you want to go down that route. But being the author and publisher trying to sell your book to the retail giants is a hard persons work, as most only use their approved publishers and don't accept work from authors directly. This is where e-books kicks in! Most E-book companies let you upload your book for free and let you take part in a better royalty program than if you were to go with a main publisher. You can also set up a website to promote yourself and sell copies of your book, where YOU can decide the price NOT the retailers or a  publisher. Being self-published you have a say where your book goes and how you go about it.
Writing, publishing and marketing your book is very rewarding but at the same time a lot of commitment is involved.

One last tip. if you want to write and  it has been an ambition for a while but haven't got round to doing it yet just yet then write a little each day, month etc. Your writing can be a long term enjoyment project.
